If you suddenly found yourself with an enormous pile of cash to spend, which suburb would you move to in Melbourne?
There’s a lot of choices… do you go for a loft in the city? A converted warehouse in some of the city’s cooler suburbs? Some swish inner city location where the party never stops? Or perhaps somewhere a little further out, where it’s more scenic and quiet?
Let everyone know where you’d set up sticks if you had the cash, and why.

There is this big house on the north side of Carlton Gardens, I think it has a pool at the back. I remember it was for sale a few years back and it looked pretty swish, plus a great location.
The La Trobe Reading Room at the State Library. The most spectacular room in one of Melbourne’s best buildings, perfect location in the heart of the city, all the books you can read AND free wi-fi.
Toorak, duh :)

I would have to say Phillip Island or out that way, pretty much somewhere along the coastal fringes; so that every morning when I wake up I get to look straight out onto the ocean…ah yeah total bliss!
In Sydney…;), sorry MEL
Majorca House. Yeah, I have an exact address… that’s not weird.
I don’t need anything complicated or fancy. If money was no object, I’d like to move back to Northcote, to a nice renovated workers cottage or terrace house. Enough room for a veg garden and some fruit trees. I had to move waaaay out into the sticks to be able to afford to buy a house, and I miss Northcote daily.
Easy – what could be better than a terrace house in Fitzroy?
Breakfast on Brunswick st, the best hot chocolate at Jaspers.
Picnics in Fitzroy Gardens.
A 5 minute cycle to study at Melb. Uni.
A cool walk to the ‘G for the cricket in the summer.
Great nightlife along Brunswick st, Smith St and a $5 cab ride to the city!
if money was no object i wouldnt live in melbourne!
but if i had to it would probably be a penthouse apartment in the city, like maybe in the eureka tower
Inner East somewhere. Or specifically this house in Hawthorn: http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-vic-hawthorn-108221901
If I was going to stay in Melbourne, I’ve always wanted to live in Elwood, in one of the beach front houses there. Just far enough away from the inner city to be peaceful-ish, right on a beautiful beach, and close enough not to be out in the sticks. Perfect.
South Yarra or Toorak.
I’d buy the Majorca Building and fill it with my friends, bars, good times and a whole level as an aquarium.
A terrace house in Fitzroy or albert park, or that apartment building in queen street, across the road from the victoria market
North Fitzroy, Clifton Hill or East Brunswick.
OR
Panton Hill, Strathewen, Arthurs Creek, St Andrews.
St Vincent Place, Albert Park because it is one of Melbourne’s most beautiful streets.
If money was no object, then either Paris or London
I live in Toorak Totes overrated !!!! Give me beachside anyday!
Fairfield.
I would not change I love Richmond
South Melbourne in an old terrace, by the beach but close access to the city – best of both worlds!!
Northcote, Clifton hill, Carlton. There places are more artistic !
I like where I am in Glen Waverley
In a fricken’ castle!
I’d buy the Wesley Anne in Northcote, then live in the rainbow caravan out the back and compose. And drink beer.
Father Joe of the Maronite church has my dream digs on comas gve thornbury or maybe it’s west Preston. The house itself is unbelievably gorgeous but the block of land is big enough for chooks, veggies and an orchard. Or anywhere off Yarra blvd Kew.
North Fitzroy. All that’s good in the City, and the ability to overlook the skyline from the end of Brunswick Street.
East Melbourne or Canterbury
I would like in one of the high rise apartments in Melbourne CBD. Close to everything not to mention they are lovely.
definitely Elwood!
Maribyrong Edgewater
Fairfield.
We have the nicest people, leafy streets, great food and coffee.
Camberwell.
East Melbourne
