Let’s admit it – there are quite a few locations around Melbourne that are so magnificent, or make us feel so good – we can’t help feeling a smidget self-satisfied that this city is so splendid.

What street or suburb around Melbourne makes you proud to call this city home?

MelBourne

We always get a warm Melburnian buzz whenever we are one of the Yarra River ferries. The one that goes out to Williamstown passes is great for sightseeing and the one that goes upstream is good for a bit of Melbourne history.

We love Elwood. We particularly loved Elwood last weekend when we went to a doggie event called Bark in the Park sponsored by Purina. Hundreds of dogs, free baths, showbags, food, doggie photos and caricatures. See photos here http://tinyurl.com/yhqa8ym.

The view over the West Gate bridge, traveling into or out of the city really makes you feel as though you are coming home or departing, I love it…

I love to drive through the city on a weekend night and see the Yarra, the Arts precinct, Southbank, the bridge and Fed Square, it’s charming, beautiful, and exciting to me.

The inner Bayside suburbs like Albert Park, Elsternwick, St Kilda, Bentleigh, Brighton & Elwood make you feel right at home with their history and different styles of period homes from Colonial Georgian to Art Deco.

Beaconsfield is the best, quiet, tranquil and trendy.
The best coffee shops, close to major shopping centers.

Westgarth :). Loving the parklands, the city access, the local hipster shops. All other suburbs just seem to pale in comparison. Westgarth has that balance between “friendly family” and “entertainment”. Plus, i never have to use my car when i’m here.

Elwood & parts of St Kilda – beachside, leafy streets & beautiful older buildings. Caulfield (where I live), especially near Caulfield Park & around Orrong Rd. East Melbourne is beautiful, lots of historic buildings. Parks in general. Dandenong Ranges. The wetlands between Williamstown & Altona, with a colony of pelicans, ibises, etc. within cooee of residential houses. Cool pubs that play live music, s.a. the Espy, the Corner & lots in Fitzroy/ Collingwood, & areas where such pubs abound.

definitely the north… we have the green of merri creek or yarra bend, plus gorgeous clifton hill with all its charm, then if you want the cool stuff (and lets face it the coolest stuff is always in the north), its all there too in gertrude st. and of course in the north there is carlton, brunswick all so close. and the best bakeries all over here too. the only thing we need is the ocean!!

ps, the northern side is nicely down to earth and friendly because we have most of the wogs! yeah!
