We all love this city, but perhaps there’s something you’ve secretly wished was in Melbourne.
Perhaps it’s a particular store chain or service… a change to the city’s infrastructure… or something else other cities have, but is just missing here for some reason.
Don’t say ‘nothing’, that’s cheating! Every city can be improved upon, so what do you think is currently desperately missing in our city?

Umm, stable weather? Hate to have four-season in one day sometimes :-P
Actually, I would go with a train line to airport. It should be more convenient than now. For example, I live in Essendon (which is so close to airport). But if I cannot find anyone to drive me there or pick me up, I will probably need to use taxi. (there might be a bus, but the time table is suck) Or else, I need to take airport bus to city and then catch a train back, or vice versa, which is ridiculous. If there was an airport train, a train would have somehow passed Essendon station nicely, and I could have walked back home from there ;-)
Seriously, I still cannot think of a reason for not having one. Or maybe it is too expensive to build one?
I’d agree that a train line to the airport is probably the most logical (and entirely doable!) thing that is missing from Melbourne, but if I could have anything in Melbourne, it would be a proper white sand beach with waves you can surf.
Also, here’s a fairly good article (http://bit.ly/1vNNRM) with some details about the proposed airport rail link…
I think we need roof top gardens or parks…especially covering up the railway line from latrobe street all the way round to fed square..just the one massive park hugging the city
a metro rail system like they have in hong kong, singapore, dubai etc… we dont need any of this above ground, outdated trains and railways, dirty stations
Yup- definately agree with A- we need an upgrade to our train system. I’ve been living in Melbourne for over 20 years and I don’t think our train system has changed all that much during that time. What’s worse is that system is not coping with the ever increasing population growth. The government needs to think of ways to extending our train lines to more suburbs. It surprises me that many of the inner city suburbs still don’t have train stations…I.e Kew, Balwyn and Doncaster ( slightly further out).
The other thing that is missing in Melbourne is night life!
BETTER PUBLIC TRANSPORT! that is all.
Proper vegan and vegetarian cafes, cinemas in the burbs, more vegan options in supermarkets.
Definitely a good public transport system. Also, I’ve always been a bit jealous of Sydney’s gorgeous ocean beaches.
How about a giant slide? http://www.wired.com/underwire/2011/10/new-museum-slide/
4G wifi (free in some areas – especially the airport)
An awesome theme park
UNIQLO
Yep, defintely a metro/subway type of train system that criss-crosses the city rather than the current outdated radiating-out-from-the-cbd system in existence.
