After you’ve lived in a suburb long enough, you begin to accumulate a few local’s secrets.

Maybe it’s a hidden store, scenic spot, or hard-to-find pub that only locals know about.

Perhaps it’s an awesome shop or cafe that treats the regular locals particularly well.

Is there a certain local way of doing certain things in your area?

Or perhaps you’ve got a celebrity living nearby that everyone knows about, but keeps tight-lipped about.

Every Melbourne suburb has its own local’s secrets – but maybe it’s time to share the knowledge around with others…

Little Captain on Inkerman Street for those that live in Balaclava. I’ll probably be kicked out of the suburb now for telling everyone else.

The Local Taphouse on Carlisle St, St Kilda. Esp. the rooftop. The beers on tap are really bloody good, and they serve simple, tasty, modern comfort food.

Near the fire at the Parkdale Beach Cafe is an excellent place to be on a cold day.

When its hot, the outside chairs are fantastic.

  8. Cuppa Cottage in Station St, Sandringham. Great coffee, and just good!

Not really a secret but $9 movies, all day everyday at forest hill chase hoyts. It’s better than gold class/director’s lounge sometimes. We had the cinema to ourselves for the viewing of My sister’s keeper.

Definitely think the large wooden dog that resembles a Trojan Dog at Fairfield station (cnr Station st) is impressive. Like the way it’s eyes light up at night and so becomes a beacon!
