i agree with ruth… don dons is really great. it has very fast service and great food.
Thy Thy (the upstairs one) on Victoria Street in Richmond. Big vietnamese feeds, all under $10, including seafood.
$5 parma with chips and salad at the commercial hotel in yarraville. then $5 for a chocolate sundae for dessert (i usually share this with the other half)
I’ve spruiked Don Dons (321 Swanston St) before, but I’ll give it another shout-out: big bowls and bento boxes of tasty Japanese food, plated fresh and immediately, with enough change left over from a tenner for a Coke.
Shanghai Dumpling (25 Tattersalls Lane) is obviously a stalwart. You could probably get a good serve of dumplings and soup or rice for under $10, plus free all-you-can-drink tea in plastic cups.
