Where is Melbourne’s most ridiculously obvious brothel?

red-light-bulbBrothels do their very best to disguise themselves within the city and suburbia… badly. Most attempts to conceal brothels as innocuous residential houses or other kinds of businesses are usually so painful, they’re amusing.

Let’s face it, we’ve all had a little giggle at how badly some of these businesses camouflage into their surroundings. Time to share our favourites.

Which badly disguised brothel always gives you a giggle?

Thanks to @griffynn for today’s question suggestion!

California Girls! I mean, the big pink Cadillac out front isn’t exactly the epitome of subtlety.

Every address in South Melbourne. They’re all houses of ill repute, aren’t they?

Daily Planet, because it isn’t really disguised at all, which is odd, but I guess this may say something about St Kilda and it’s surrounding suburbs….

I don’t really like that place, especially at night…. it’s less safer than Dandynong.

Scarlet Lady in Clifton Hill is also right next to a busy McDonald’s drive through so I guess you can satisfy a number of appetites in one hit!

Manhattan Terrace on Swanston near the Public Bath building.
The pink lights and covered up windows are a dead give away.

Respectfully to the person suggesting this topic but it’s a dumb question. Brothels are legal and liscened by the State government so they’re not trying to hide, they’re trying to attract the notice of people who might be interested.
They do tend to share a common visual language of pink and fairy lights though. And yes, Grant Macdonald is correct about every house in South Melb being brothels.
