Perfect pasta, delicious pizza, and other Italian dishes cooked to perfection… where is the best Italian restaurant in Melbourne? We want to hear your favourite pizzeria or Italian restaurant in the comments below.
We all know that Carlton’s Lygon Street is full of an overwhelming choice of Italian restaurants, but perhaps there somewhere in another suburban location that makes unexpectedly awesome Italian food.
And if you haven’t discovered the secret-ish location of the Waiters’ Club restaurant in the CBD – you’re missing out on some of the greatest, affordable pasta going in the city. Let’s not forget how popular Pelligrini’s is as well – but is it theĀ best Italian going in the city?

Was Arrivedercci by far. Unfortunately the beautiful old Nonno passed away and the business closed soon after.
The memory of the pumpkin pasta will stay in my heart forever.
Woodstock – Nicholson St, Fitzroy. Take a bite, you are back in Italy.
Agree with Woodstock in Nth Carlton. Outstanding, and the only Italian place my nonna approves.
Il Bacaro in Little Collins St. Sublime food and great service.
Bedda in High Street, Northcote for great Sicilian fare!
Love Spuntini in Elsternwick – very friendly service and a great food.

Can’t believe nobody has said Woodstock on Nicholson St Fitzroy! Incredible food, prepared by Nonna and served by her grandkids.
Also, an old favourite of mine is Sammy’s on Sydney Rd in Brunswick. Cheap and fabulous, and the service there is great.
Lupinos! Simply amazing.
D.O.C. In Carlton and Mornington, you get tasty authentic Italian food and always busy. Hands down best.
Garden Tuscany lovely little cafe
Amiconi north Melbourne
Il Solito Posto end of discussion
I Saluti in High Street Northcote.
I’ve always had great service and dining experiences there. I don’t want to set a precedent, but one night they made a beautiful meal for my sister and I and also had a dairy-free version of one of their pastas ready for me to take home to my partner as I left. Awesome!
Lupino in Little Collins Street – simply brilliant!
The Spaghetti Tree – Melbourne CBD and The Old Pepper – Prahan (if it’s still going!)
Our local corner shop – Don Pepperoni on the corner of Gladstone and Harding sts, Coburg.
Il caminetto on pascoe vale rd in moonee ponds has the best Italian food by far!!! Real genuine taste that leaves ur mouth watering for more! Full of flavour and excitement, the venue is quiet and romantic, but full of life the kind of place everyone desires! Perfection!!!
Cellar bar at grossi!
I’ve recently been to Garden Tuscany (based in Moonee Ponds). It’s a very cute little cafe in Moonee Ponds serving a small selection of gourmet pizzas and salads.

+39 Pizzeria on Little Bourke Street is a great little pizzeria.
i love the cellar bar. and pelligrini’s next door.
Ahh… but if you eat at the Cellar Bar at Florentino’s you get excellent value meals from the same kitchen as the two more upmarket restaurants there. Highly recommended.
My pick is Bellissimo Cucina & Trattoria at Docklands
Great food, lovely views, staff are always friendly. It’s even better on Tuesdays, they have 50% off food!

You can’t really go past Grossi Florentino on Bourke Street but for something more affordable, my favourite is Tiamo’s on Lygon St.
