If you’re visiting Melbourne as a tourist, or simply a local who needs to exchange some leftover currency from a recent holiday, you’ll be looking for a Melbourne money exchange location. What many people don’t know is that the rates at these locations can vary wildly – so which Melbourne money exchange has the best rates?

If you’ve got no idea where to exchange money in Melbourne, you’ll find that Swanston Street – the unofficial tourist centre of Melbourne – has loads of Melbourne money exchange booths dotted along the street. The very fact that these places are located right alongside tacky souvenir shops should set alarm bells ringing.

Many Melbourne banks and Australia Post outlets offer a much better deal on currency conversion in Melbourne – are there any outlets in particular you can recommend for good exchange rates?

The best tip we’ve heard recently is to take a short walk over the Yarra river and exchange your foreign currency at Crown Casino. The casino has a vested interest to get you gambling as much as possible, so they tend to be a little better than most outlets with their exchange rates.

Where are your tips on where to get the best rates on Melbourne money exchange for foreign currency into Australian dollars?

@Blazerpete. the post office only sells foreign currency – they won’t buy it like this article is talking about.
