Virtually every local pub has a weekly steak night, so you’ve probably had your fair share of decent steaks. Perhaps you’ve had a particularly delicious steak at a restauraunt or steakhouse around town.

Best I had was Scotch Fillet at PJ O’Briens on Southbank. I went back with a friend so they could try, and they agreed it was the best they’d had. Also – I like that the ‘wait here to be seated’ sign has ‘wait here for hugs’ on the side you see on the way out.
They haven’t had that cut the last few times I’ve been. Still great steaks, but not awe-inspiring in a ‘go back with your buddy’ way.
My best steak was at The Butcher’s Grill on Bourke Street followed closely by Charcoal Grill On The Hill on High Street, Kew.
The Squire’s Loft in Goldie Place CBD serves the best steak ever!

Tough choice!
1. Railway Club Hotel, Port Melbourne. Superb cuts of meat, perfectly cooked to your liking and served with a mash thats to die for!
2. Steer South Yarra – impressive selection of cuts and varieties, great NYC air to the place, and also a great serving of mash (buttermilk mash!) – well worth the visit!
Station hotel in Footscray is pretty hard to beat for steak.
Best steak is at The Palace by Luke Mangan, South Melbourne! Monday is steak night and it’s only $19!

The best portahouse steak I have had in years was at Aces Place in Caroline Springs. It was so nice to be able to get a perfectly cooked steak without having to go to a 5 star restaurant. It was mouthwatering.

Station Hotel, Footscray. I was there just tonight. The 400g Castricum Bros dry aged grass fed Black Angus rump steak …was a little bit of carnivorous heaven.
